For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord; I sing for joy at what your hands have done. ~~Psalm 92:4 (NIV)
Have you ever just sat and pondered the sovereignty and power of God? Right at the moment when new revelation is given, I realize that my finite mind cannot even measure is greatness. That’s usually the time when I bellow out a song from deep within out of gratitude and awe.
When I think of how God created all that we see by speaking it into existence, something on the inside of me stirs and causes a response. As my sons and nephews were growing up and in my home, they witnessed this firsthand. They were no stranger to the spontaneous praise that would break forth without warning. Everyone knew to let me have my space or join in.
Spontaneous praise always sets the atmosphere for breakthrough, revelation, renewed joy and peace, confirmation, and liberty in my life. I understand what it means to encourage myself in the Lord (as David did). All I have to do is look around and see what the Lord has done!
