I’ve heard people say that it’s hard to get AWAY...
But, did you know that making your own peaceful sanctuary in your home helps you get away without leaving your house.
Let me tell you about the place I created…
#1 – I brought the outdoors in.
I like the outdoors, but I’m allergic to almost all of what’s outside. So, in my sanctuary, I’m able to bring in things that remind me of outside like pictures of nature and knick-knacks of nature.
#2 – Play a nature CD softly in the background.
This one goes along with #1, but it further enhances the mood. I have CDs that have no words (just music or sound). I have one labeled “Peace”. The music is played by piano, flute, clarinet and oboe. I have a “Nature” CD that plays the sounds of nature as well. This something that is inexpensive (I picked mine up at Target) and adds to the peaceful setting of my sanctuary.
#3 – Scented Candles
Candles invoke peaceful thoughts with their aromas. Aromas influence your mood. Such as jasmine evoking wisdom and a feeling of relaxation, or peppermint helping to overcome fatigue.
#4 – Color Scheme
The color scheme of my sanctuary reflects my personality and where I want to be once I emerge.
Create your own sanctuary today! Here’s to your good mental health!
