Mysteriously Peculiar

One of the things I love to do is find out all I can about the people I have to spend time with (people I work with, people in church, people in certain groups I belong to, etc…). I thin it’s key to being successful. So, I’m the one who walks into church and decide who I’ll speak to first before leaving out, I’m the morning person who walks in loud, laughing and asking how folk are doing, and I’m also the one who will walk into any group/meeting scanning the room to see who will be my new best friend.

Some would ask why I choose to continue to put myself out there (because it’s not always a favorable response). My reply, “It’s not ALWAYS easy. There are times when my true introvert self surfaces. The great thing, I’m more and more that woman who will reach out to others in and engage in conversation.” You see what I just did…I just eliminated the excuse you may have had about being an introvert and it being hard to approach others.

When we come out of our shells and thrust ourselves forward, we tend to find out even more about ourselves (and that’s the important part). I know what type of response makes me cringe. I know how I react in rooms full of women versus a mixed crowd. I feel more anxiety in the mixed crowd if I’m entering the room by myself versus with another individual. I also feel more at ease entering a room full of women even if the women are not warm or receptive (I’m use to it and kind of expect it).

I know that may be backwards for some of you, but I’m the most comfortable in the known (even if it’s negative) than I am with the unknown (a room full of men and women where I stand a better chance of being received). But, everyone is wired differently.

Perhaps others may feel I’m weird and other love me just the way I am – mysteriously peculiar.

What do others say about you?
