Taking the Time

With all the busyness in life, we have to remember to take the time:

☑️ Take the time to enjoy the presence of those we love. None of us know the day or the time we leave the earth. So, it’s important to cherish every moment.

I think about all the holidays we celebrate with loved ones and all the fun we have enjoying each other’s company. While we’re laughing, talking, and embracing the moments, we need to take the time to remember the little things that we normally overlook.

☑️ Take the time for self-care and rewarding self. Take the vacation. Have the spa day. Enjoy your favorite pastime. Eat your favorite foods.

What I view as self-care has changed over the years. But, I still believe in it and implement it in my life. When I was in my 30s, I paid for monthly massages. Massages were needed because of what was going on in my personal life. I used that time to completely unwind mentally and physically. When I was in my 40s, I took myself out to my favorite Italian restaurant. I would take a book to read and enjoy a pasta dinner. In my 50s, I’ve decided that a change in scenery is the way I want to unwind. It doesn’t have to be exotic. It just has to not be home. So, finding cheap flights to visit friends who live in other states is always a win. But, even when that’s not possible, I have a place where I go to decompress and no one knows I’m there. I know I can go there any time. I pray and meditate to clear my mind and regain focus.

☑️ Take the time to do a self-check. This is different than self-care. When doing a self-check, evaluate where you are mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Mentally – Where Are Your Thoughts

What you think about is where your life and focus is. If you find that you’re complaining more, you’ll also notice that you’re a magnet to negative things. Because as I say all the time, what you focus on expands.

Emotionally – What You Feel is Public

People don’t understand…but, what you feel is public. Meaning, everyone around you knows what’s going on with you emotionally because what you feel manifests itself publicly in physical form…especially, for those who really know you.

Physically – Your Body Has A Megaphone

There is truth in the fact that there are illnesses and disease that come about as a result of the mental and emotional health of an individual. If you’re constantly thinking negatively, which causes you to be out of control emotionally, you’re releasing cortisol which has been known to be the source of many illnesses/diseases.

Spiritually – You’ve Got to Know Your Purpose

If you don’t know whose you are, you won’t know who you are. It’s so important to have an identity and strong sense of awareness as to who you are. There are so many who wander the earth for life and die without ever knowing why they were created. Don’t let that be you.
