Amazing!

It’s amazing when things don’t go exactly how you planned…but, go even better than you could’ve imagined…

I was just talking to my niece who was pointing out something in scripture about expectations versus our reality. She mentioned Martha being upset that Jesus had not arrived in time to heal Lazarus. Martha was disappointed that when she called for Jesus come, he did not respond in the timing she expected…which is like us these days.

The beautiful thing that is always pointed out about this account in history is the fact that Lazarus was raised from the dead. But, lets take it a little deeper than that…

  • Yes, Martha was upset about Jesus’ timing, but God’s timing is always best. It’s hard to wait on Jesus to come through sometimes. We know that He’s a healer. We know that He’s a deliverer. But, it’s sometimes hard to tap into that faith that He’s the same yesterday, today and forevermore. But, we’ve got to think about the fact that even Jesus, who knew His assignment, had a moment when they told Him Lazarus had been dead for days (one day longer than any person had ever risen from their grave). Decomposition was starting and Lazarus probably started to smell. All hope was lost. Martha, in her finite vision, could only see the dead situation in front of her, the rotting flesh that began to smell, and the finality of it all. Thank you, Jesus, that God had a plan!

Now, take a look at your life now and in the past. You may be waiting on some things and things may even look bleak. But, if you reflect on the fact that God has promised (and keeps His promises) to never leave nor forsake, you know it’s just a matter of time before He comes through. It’s not always the way we desire. But, we can always know that His way is best and for our good.
